Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman arrives in Algeria

Khashoggi's private messages give hints to murder Putin and Saudi Crown Prince got real bro-y at G20 and it's weirding people out

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, has defended the extraordinary fraternal greetings between Russian Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the just concluded G20 world leaders' summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia yesterday, the two sides announced the formation of a Saudi-Algerian coordination council, which will oversee a series of joint initiatives.

Launched in April 2016 by the crown prince, the Vision 2030 aims to diversify Saudi Arabia's economy beyond the energy sector. Trump administration officials on Sunday continued to stress that point and emphasised the importance of the United States' maintaining a close relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia's public prosecutor has said the Crown Prince knew nothing of the operation to kill Khashoggi. "This shows that the crown prince was witting of premeditated murder".

The highly classified Central Intelligence Agency assessment says that the Saudi team sent to kill Mr. Khashoggi was assembled from Prince Mohammed's top security units in the Royal Guard and in an organization run by Mr. Qahtani, the Center for Studies and Media Affairs at the Royal Court, the Saudi royal court's media department.

Last week, in a rebuke of Saudi Arabia and the administration's handling of the Khashoggi case, a majority of the Senate voted to advance a measure to end U.S. military support to Saudi Arabia for its war in Yemen against Iranian-backed militants.

But the Turkish leader, also attending the G-20, was visibly cooler towards the 33-year-old prince and on Saturday directly criticised him for the first time over the killing of Khashoggi, a royal confidant turned critic. MBS said during the summit that no one can blame Saudi Arabia over anything unless it is proved.

The Journal also reported on Friday that in August 2017 MBS had told associates if his efforts to persuade Khashoggi to return to Saudi Arabia were unsuccessful "we could possibly lure him outside Saudi Arabia and make arrangements".

It became known that more than 400 messages, the journalist called the crown Prince "the beast" and even compared it with Pacman: "the more victims it devours, the more he wants".

Khashoggi's killing was an "ugly crime" that pushed Jordanians of all walks of life to oppose bin Salman's visit, he said.

Last May, Abdulaziz said he met two Saudi government officials in Montreal, and recorded their conversations, sharing them with CNN.
