Midterm election 2018: Donald Trump SHUTS DOWN CNN reporter in fiery confrontation

In what may be the most freakish moment of his presidency (which is really saying something), Trump unleashed hellfire on reporters from CNN and NBC in a post-election White House press conference on Wednesday.

At a White House press conference on Wednesday afternoon, President Trump first discussed the mixed midterm results in a flat tone.

CNN reporter Jim Acosta was dressed down by Trump after challenging him on his characterisation of the migrant caravan heading to the U.S. as an "invasion".

"When you report fake news, you are the enemy of the people", he told CNN's Jim Acosta when the reporter took issue with the president's characterization of the migrant caravan.

President Donald Trump struck back at a black female reporter's question about his calling himself "nationalist" as "emboldening white nationalists", calling it a "racist question", "insulting", and "very bad".

CNN reporter Jim Acosta, a frequent critic of the President, once again drew his ire when asking about the Russian Federation inquiry into possible 2016 election interference.

"That's false", Trump said as a reporter began his question.

When Trump moved on to NBC's Peter Alexander, the reporter defended Acosta, calling the president's description of him "unfair".

"They can play that game, but we can play it better", he said. "He called her statement or question racist and he was insulted".

As the president spoke, the AP called the contested Montana Senate race for Jon Tester, one of the Democrats that Trump was reportedly most hoping to defeat.

The migrants still have a long trip ahead before they actually reach the United States, but they have declared their intentions of entering the country. She dodged the question, only answering with, "I think the president has made his position known".

"I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN". "You are a rude, bad person".

"Just sit down, please", Trump responded, as the two talked over each other. "You and I have a difference of opinion", Trump replied calmly.

He turned specifically on reporter Yamiche Alcindor of PBS' "NewsHour".

"It's very hard when you have that many retirements", he said.

Then, to push this into full constitutional crisis mode, Trump asked Jeff Sessions to resign (aka fired him) as Attorney General.
