The company is expected to showcase the Galaxy foldable handset codenamed- "Winner" at the upcoming Samsung Developer Conference on November 7-8 in San Francisco.

At the moment, there is little we know about Samsung's foldable smartphone.

Samsung has always been rumoured to be working on a foldable phone. While this will undoubtedly see some of its upcoming features worm their way out from behind closed doors, such as the user interface, the extra communication with app makers is an effort to ensure a smooth release for the experimental device. There's a clear chance Samsung could also tease its foldable phone at the event to gauge the interest of the developer community.

The slow race to develop a foldable phone is coming to an end.

Samsung Mobile on Sunday changed its Facebook profile photo to an image of the Samsung logo folded in half.

"Manufacturers who produce them now are demonstrating technology leadership, and will also be the first with serious applications for foldable screens".

The company did not stop there, it introduced single-curved screen based Galaxy Note Edge in 2014 and this was followed by a dual-curved display was introduced in the Galaxy S6 Edge in 2015 and since then, it has been the norm for the Samsung flagship phones till date. Another Samsung exec said that images of the device will be revealed. "Before we take it to the market, we want to share with developers what we've done so far and see what they think of it", the official added. It does hint that rumours were right that the device will function both as a tablet when unfurled and turned to a mobile when folded.

The foldable phone when unfolded turns into a 7.8-inch tablet. Yes, it feels a bit gimmicky, but the FlexPai does actually deliver on its promise of being the "first foldable smartphone". Despite all the unfulfilled Project Valley and Galaxy X rumors of previous years, it's hard not to feel a little excitement for what Samsung might unveil later this week at its developer conference in San Francisco.
