| 07 November, 2018, 06:33

Earlier at the Kotoka International Airport, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, had been given a warm welcome on their arrival.

Gambia's President Adama Barrow sits with Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at McCarthy Square during an official welcome ceremony in Banjul, Gambia November 1, 2018.

The goal of their visit is to strengthen diplomatic ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom and would highlight key themes within the Commonwealth of Nations.

After his visit to The Gambia, he is proceeding to Ghana.

In fact, as reported by the Daily Express, Andrew Morton, the author of the book Diana: Her True Story, says that prince Charles has always wanted to have a daughter.

Prior to Prince Charles and Camilla's visit to Ghana, President Akufo-Addo said that he looks forward to meeting them both and "we look forward to receiving him, as his visit will renew and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the United Kingdom and Ghana".

The Royal plane CS-TFY, with blue and white colours touched down at the runway at 1348 hours.

The Prince of Wales has begun the first full day of his west African tour by highlighting the "important milestone" taken by Gambians in turning their backs on "22 years of autocratic rule".

They were greeted by President Adama Barrow and his wife, Fatou Bah-Barrow. This will be the Duchess of Cornwall's first visit to Ghana.

In the evening the royal couple attended a reception held by the British High Commissioner, Iain Walker.

While in Ghana, the Royal couple will attend a State Banquet organised by the Presidency in their honour to celebrate the ties between Britain and Ghana.

He will also meet with key players in Ghana's cocoa industry where he will discuss innovative ways to sustain one of the country's most profitable resources. The last visit was by Princess Anne in 1990.
