Former England manager Glenn Hoddle is in hospital after falling seriously ill while preparing to appear on TV.

Interestingly, Hoddle was acclaimed as one of the most talented English players of all time after a playing career that saw him play for top clubs like Tottenham, Chelsea, AS Monaco and Swindon.

Presenter Mark Pougatch confirmed that the channel's football results show, BT Score, had been cancelled.

"Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love and strength".

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle is "responding well" to treatment after being taken to hospital on Saturday.

BT Sport has sent out its support saying: 'The thoughts and wishes of everyone here at BT Sport are with Glenn and his family at this time.

'Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier, ' the former England striker tweeted.

"Glenn's family are with him and would like to thank everyone that has sent their support".

Hoddle was due to be a pundit for West Ham's trip to Leicester's King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

England captain Harry Kane also sent a message, in conjunction with Tottenham, writing: "Thoughts are with Glenn Hoddle".

He managed England between 1996 and 1999, taking the team to the 1998 World Cup. Obviously we all wish him and his family well and I hope he can make a speedy and full recovery.

Hoddle has been married twice, first to Christine Stirling from 1979 to 1998, and again two years later to Vanessa Colbourn, with whom he split in 2015. He has three children: Zara Marie, Jamie Glenn and Zoe Ann. "He's got a strong character, Glenn, and I'm sure he'll battle through it". All our thoughts are with Glenn and his family'. You won't meet a nicer guy than Glenn.

"You will understand why there's no BT Sport Score this afternoon".

His former employers expressed their concern at the information, posting on the official England Twitter account: "Worrying news".
