He added: 'I don't know this is boxing it's a amusing thing - he may need surgery after what happened to his nose.

After an early chess match in which Joshua suffered a bloodied nose before cutting his rival, the Briton grew in confidence and a savage right hand followed by a left hook began an onslaught which would prove telling.

This fight saw Joshua returning to the scene of arguably his greatest triumph, an 11th-round stoppage of former champion Wladimir Klitschko a year ago.

Fighting in his hometown with almost 85,000 noisy compatriots, Joshua got his nose bleeding after being hit by an overhand right in the opening round.

Joshua's next fight will take place on April. 13, again at Wembley Stadium, and an opponent is yet to be announced.

In many ways, it was just another night at the office for Joshua, who has been forced to learn on the job after coming into a world title in 2016 much quicker than expected when he knocked out Charles Martin for the IBF belt in just his 16th pro fight.

Joshua and his opponent from New Zealand went into this fight unbeaten, but the British overcame Parker who has never been down according to the commentator of the fight.

The pair have met before, with Joshua delivering the only defeat of Whyte's professional career to date in London in December 2015.

"Joshua is not even close".

Joshua tipped the scales at 17st 8lbs 5oz at yesterday's weigh-in, with Povetkin nearly two stone lighter at 15st 12lbs.

Joshua, 28, had a significant height and reach advantage of several inches over Povetkin. "I have got to be on my A game", he said. I will start training for a fight in early January.

"But good luck to both of them and may the champion bring himself to the United Kingdom, let's have a good dust-up".

Not only did he keep his composure after almost having his nose broken in the opening around against Takam, Joshua avoided getting rattled after blood began to pour from it in the opening round on Saturday against Povetkin.

Whyte, who was among an estimated 80,000 crowd at Wembley, said of Joshua's latest victory: "He was patient and took his time, he was jabbing to the body and then brought the right into play which caught Povetkin by surprise".

Povetkin again rocked Joshua with a short left hook in the third round, after he had landed a big overhand right, and the champion looked nervous.

Former world champion Fury beat Francesco Pianeta on points in his second fight since making his comeback from a two and half year absence from the ring.
