Spacey avoids prosecution in assault claims

Sex assault case against Kevin Spacey dropped by Los Angeles prosecutors Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal won't be prosecuted for alleged sex assaults

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said Tuesday it would not bring sex crime charges against actors Kevin Spacey, Anthony Anderson and Steven Seagal, the Hollywood Reporter reported Tuesday.

A man alleged the actor had assaulted him in Hollywood in October 1992.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigated a claim that Spacey committed forcible sodomy in October of 1992, which came to light after he was sacked by Netflix over sexual misconduct allegations.

In 2017, police began investigations into an allegation of a 2008 assault in the London borough of Lambeth and two allegations of sexual assault in 2005, one in Westminster and one in Lambeth.

The Seagal allegation, which was investigated by the Beverly Hills Police, involves an 18-year-old actress who accused Seagal of raping her in 1993 when she was an extra on Seagal's 1994 film "On Deadly Ground".

Seagal is still under scrutiny for another alleged sexual assault, although the details of the accusation are unclear. However, the LA district attorney's office decided not to file charges after she "declined to be interviewed by the investigating officer".

Spacey, 58, is the former artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London and is the subject of multiple police investigations in MA and England. The victim was 18 years old at the time.

Anderson, star of ABC's Black-ish, was accused of sexual assault earlier in 2018, according to Variety.

Actor Anthony Rapp, 46, told BuzzFeed last October that when he was a teenager, Spacey, then in his 20s, made a sexual advance toward him.

He apologized for any inappropriate conduct with Rapp but has not commented since and has stepped away from public life.

As the number of accusations escalated, Netflix cut Spacey from his lead role in the award-winning series House of Cards.
