Jos Buttler aims to put the lessons he learnt from watching Virat Kohli while playing in the Indian Premier League to good use during England's upcoming Test series with India. The main hurdle which may cost India the coveted series is Joe Root, who is the skipper of the host in Test cricket.
Meanwhile Buttler added a Test series with India was nearly as important to England as the Ashes.
"Of all the countries we play against they have the biggest following and cricket is as much a religion there as anywhere".
Riding his imperious form in the IPL, Buttler made a successful return to Test cricket, scoring back-to-back fifties, during the recent 1-1 drawn home campaign against Pakistan.
"Reinforcing the enjoyment factor and the incredible opportunity it is to play Test cricket ... because those two games I wasn't sure how it would go but I approached it in a great manner and that's important for me to do that going into this series", said Buttler in the lead-up to the first Test at Edgbaston from 1 August.
"In the last ten years I ve played them, they haven t had the option of playing five or six different types of seamers", added Cook, England s all-time leading Test run-scorer, whose highest score of 294 was made against India at Edgbaston in 2011.
"It's a huge series". India are a fantastic team in all conditions as well as here.
Buttler was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in the IPL.
"There's a few guys I've played well and have friendships with". But yes, there is a lot more familiarity between the sides than there ever has been before. Moeen played with Virat at RCB and [Yuzvendra] Chahal.
"They just have a different mentality, a winning mentality in every game and the consistency to do that. On the field, it seems to be forgotten and everyone is very competitive", said Buttler.
"I am sure there will be moments in the Test series, especially on the field, when those things look like they have been forgotten".
India may be the world s top-ranked Test side but they still face accusations they are lions at home and lambs overseas. We all know the force of nature that is Indian cricket.
But Cook senses that at 30, and after the sustained white-ball improvement which persuaded national selector Ed Smith that Rashid may be worth a punt in England's 1,000th Test, the Yorkshireman can cope with the spotlight. "It will be highly competitive", Buttler reiterates.
"At that time, it was his first tour. now he has got so many runs behind him and I think will perform wonderfully well", Azharuddin said.
Alastair Cook insists Adil Rashid is mature enough to handle the occasion of his controversial Test recall.
