In the run up to the election, the country was hit by a series of terror attacks on candidates and campaign rallies, including one that killed 151 people in Balochistan province on July 13.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sardar Ikramullah Gandapur was martyred as a suicide bomber targetted his vehiclen DI Khan's Tehsil Kalachi on Sunday.

Four other people were wounded in the attack.

Gandapur succumbed to his injuriesat Combined Military Hospital.

Faraz Mughul, Gandapur's assistant, confirmed the casualties.

The countrywide election campaign, marred by a string of terrorist attacks, came to an end at midnight last night, as political parties culminated their poll campaigns.

A candidate from the party of Pakistan prime ministerial hopeful and former cricket star Imran Khan has been killed in a suicide attack. His driver Ramzan was also killed in the attack.
