Dallas Mavericks Working On DeAndre Jordan Trade: Report Report: DeAndre Jordan opts out of deal with Clippers
| 01 July, 2018, 14:10

Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and now Jordan are all now in different cities, while in Dallas, the team is preparing for their post -irk Nowitzki reality.

This is Jordan's second turn at free agency.

After not exercising his player option for the 2018-19 season, Jordan was able to explore the market once again to find a situation that made the best use of his talents. At the last moment, the Los Angeles Clippers camped out at Jordan's house, while persuading Jordan to reverse his choice to join the Dallas Mavericks and officially sign a new deal with the franchise.

For five consecutive seasons from 2012-13 to 2016-17, Jordan led the National Basketball Association in field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage. He will never be great in that area, but making himself less of a liability is a positive sign for his future.

The 29-year-old Houston native was originally set to sign with the Mavericks 3 years prior before backing out and re-signing with LA. One of the more reliable players in the National Basketball Association, he played all 82 games three straight seasons, and owns the Los Angeles Clippers' record for consecutive games played with 322.

But they failed to agree on a deal and they'll now hope to conclude terms with him in free agency, which begins on Sunday.

The Warriors had also reportedly been interested in possibly signing Jordan. Dallas finished 24-58 last season and traded up a few spots in the NBA Draft to select Slovenian teenage basketball prodigy Luka Doncic.

- Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 30, 2018Such a move would require Jordan to take a deal starting at the taxpayer midlevel exception of $5.3 mil - which would cost the Warriors more like $27 mil next season.

Both the Clippers and Mavericks are rebuilding their rosters.
