Alison Ettel a.k.a 'Permit Patty' issues an apology

The person who posted the video also posted a split image of the woman who called cops on the people having a barbecue in April and the woman allegedly calling cops today #PermitPatty: Woman allegedly calls police on girl selling water in San Francisco
| 28 June, 2018, 10:58

The San Francisco Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News.

"So my little cousin was selling water and didn't have a permit so this lady chose to call the cops on an 8-year-old", the caption on the Twitter video says, ending with the hashtag #PermitPatty.

The girl's cousin posted the video on Twitter with the hashtag #PermitPatty and wrote, 'So my little cousin was selling water and didn't have a permit so this lady chose to call the cops on an 8 year old'.

According to a family member-a woman named Raj on Twitter who says she's the little girl and her mom's cousin-said the girl and her mom live near AT&T Park, where the San Francisco Giants played the San Diego Padres on Friday (Jun. 22).

The woman who shared the footage referred to the complaining woman as #PermitPatty, with social media users slamming the complainer online.

The incident has been compared to one from earlier this year, when a white woman called the police on an African-American family barbecuing in a park in Oakland.

"It was literally nonstop".

Austin, who recently lost her job, told All the Moms that her 8-year-old daughter Jordan was trying to raise money because she wanted to go to Disneyland. She left her office windows opened and was bothered by the constant screaming of "come and buy my water".

"I had been putting up with this for hours, and I just snapped", Ettel said. The video quickly went viral and sparked a wider conversation about black people being censured for seemingly harmless acts.

Ettel, the founder of cannabis tincture company TreatWell Health, also told HuffPost there was "no racial component" to her actions. It appears as if Ettel felt like the thought of the police would have a strong enough impact on a person of color that they would fearfully obey her wishes.

Ettel said she never confronted Jordan directly. "People lose it, but you don't lose it on children". When Ettel noticed she was being filmed, she tried to hide behind a concrete wall.

"She never asked us to be quiet, she just came out and directly demanded to see a permit", Rodgers' mother told Today, contradicting Ettel's story. By the end of the day, the woman - later identified as Alison Ettel after speaking with Huffington Post about the incident - became known as "Permit Patty".

That's not all! Ettel was also set to be one of the subjects of a documentary called Lady Buds, which centered around women in the cannabis industry.

She said she only "pretended" to call the police.

"All kinds of threats, frightful images and death threats", she says tearfully.

She says she has even received death threats. The incident was recorded on video by the girl's mother and cousin (on Instagram and Twitter respectively), and understandably, the footage has gone viral.
