USA says It Knows Location of Migrant Children Separated from Parents

Replying to a tweet by President Donald Trump, who slurred amnesty-seeking immigrants as "these people" before saying he wanted a merit-based system of admitting possible new USA citizens, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) reminded the president of his own ancestors' humble beginnings.

"We can not allow all of these people to invade our Country", Trump tweeted while on the way to his golf course in Virginia.

Democrats and other opponents of the administration's policy say that court case is not the root of the problem, noting that separating families was the exception, not the rule, for most of the two decades since the Flores case was resolved.

The U.S. leader claimed that the U.S. immigration law is "laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years".

Last week, Trump reversed a policy of separating families entering the US illegally at the border with Mexico.

"The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of Republican control", Mr. Willwrote. But the government has yet to reunite more than 2,000 children with their parents.

Democrats, however, have hopes of retaking control of at least one of the chambers, with USA analysts say they have a better chance of regaining control of the House, where all 435 seats are being contested. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., said Sunday.

"Trump based so much on having the (border) wall and here it was on a platter, along with the Ag provisions we really need", Costello said.

Stopping short of suggesting he might oppose President Trump in a 2020 primary, Flake told ABC's George Stephanopoulos he hopes "somebody does".

Nor was it clear whether any immigrant children who had been transferred to the U.S. Health and Human Services Department for longer-term custody had yet rejoined their families. "This humanitarian disaster that occurred at the border, with these children being torn away from their parents, I think he's got his fingerprints on it", Mr. Coffman said in an interview. "There are already people being removed with a truncated process".

In all, about 17 percent of the 12,000 or so minors held in HHS-funded facilities were separated from their parents or guardians at the border. "We asked the commission to immediately require the USA government to reunite these families and stop this inhumane and illegal practice".

"These are not political appointees".

In the meantime, officials have issued conflicting signals over the state of the administration's policy and some parents have said they don't yet know where there children are.
