"The FBI has now obtained this material".

"The messages and call logs together constitute 731 pages of potential evidence", the report added.

At the time, prosecutors had not yet provided Cohen's lawyers with reconstructed shredded documents or the encrypted messages.

In a brief order, U.S. District Judge James Otero in Los Angeles said Cohen had not shown he would face "immediate, irreparable injury" without an immediate restraining order.

Asked if he believes it's harder for Cohen to receive a fair trial because he has been silent while Avenatti has been going on the record, Avenatti said, "No, I don't".

Federal prosecutors are also investigating his $130,000 payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who says the payment was to keep her quiet about an alleged affair with Trump.

Daniels filed a separate defamation suit against Trump in NY, alleging the president libeled her by saying she lied about a man who allegedly threatened her to keep her quiet about her alleged relationship with Trump.

Cohen's associates say that in recent days he has become increasingly irritated by statements made in the media by the president's lawyer in the Russian Federation investigation, Rudy Giuliani.

This new development arrives amid a period of uncertainty in Cohen's legal defense.

Brent H. Blakely, who filed the motion on Cohen's behalf, alleges that since Daniels filed suit, Avenatti has made more than 120 media appearances and issued at least 439 tweets relating to the lawsuit or to Cohen. Under the supervision of a retired federal judge acting as a "special master", the files are being scrutinized by Cohen's attorneys for items potentially covered by attorney-client privilege.

The judge in Stormy Daniels' case against Michael Cohen and President Donald Trump responded Friday to Cohen's application for a restraining order prohibiting Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti from talking about the case publicly.

According to CNN, Cohen would do so both to relieve pressure on himself and because he's wounded that President Trump and his allies have minimized Cohen's relationship with Trump in dismissive public comments.
