Kami Rita reached the summit of Mount Everest Wednesday morning, marking a record 22nd time he has reached the top of the tallest mountain in the world, according to Binaj Gurubacharya of the Associated Press.

Nepali mountain guides - known as Sherpa - make the first trek through the icefall each year, installing ropes and ladders and carrying gear before the first climbers begin traveling through the icefall on acclimatizing runs in April and May.

For the 44 year-old Lhakpa is the ninth time on the highest point of the earth, a female record that beats the record set by herself a year ago.

Lhakpa, who climbed from the Tibetan side of the mountain, was accompanied by a guide during the ascent, said Rajiv Shrestha of the Seven Summit Club that organized her expedition. "But I am not overexcited as it is a part of my professional job", Kami shared with Xinhua before leaving Kathmandu for expedition.

He has already climbed most of the peaks above 8,000 meters including K2 and Annapurna, among others.

Ballinger and others have suggested that a helicopter be used to ferry climbers and supplies to the first camp on the mountain, Camp 1, to improve safety, as is done on other peaks such as Mount Cook in New Zealand. She lives most of the year in the US state of CT and has a son and two daughters.

According to Nepal's tourism department, the official government body which issues climbing permits for the Qomolangma expedition, 346 mountaineers from Nepali and foreign teams have taken the permits for expedition this year.

"It has obviously excited me with the feeling that I am going to set a new world record".

Sherpa climbed the Everest for the 21st time in 2017.

The route to the summit was opened up by a team of Sherpa guides earlier this week.

He completed the seven climbs in 177 days - nine days quicker than the previous record - after reaching the top of Everest on Monday.

This year, her climb was sponsored by the outfitter Black Diamond, who provided gear and monetary support.
