"Giuliani suggested that Mueller's team leaked a list of 49 questions the special counsel wanted to ask the president, a point host George Stephanopoulos challenged: "'Let me just stop you right there, ' Stephanopoulos said, noting that the questions were written by a Trump lawyer after a meeting with Mueller and his team.

He reiterated that the payment to Daniels was not a campaign contribution and that it was reimbursed out of personal funds.

Michael Avenatti, Daniels' attorney, said Sunday on "This Week" that he thinks it's "obvious.to the American people that this is a cover-up, that they are making it up as they go along".

"How could I ever be confident of that?" asked Giuliani. "[Cohen] made payments for the president, or he conducted business for the president, which means he had legal fees, monies laid out, and expenditures which I have on my bills to my clients". The FBI and federal prosecutors are reportedly investigating whether Cohen may have committed bank fraud in obtaining the credit lines, which some speculate may have been opened in anticipation of hush-money payments to protect Trump.

Daniels is now suing Trump to be released from the non-disclosure agreement she signed when she took payment of the $130,000.

Trump later added: "He'll get his facts straight".

"I've got a client who wants to testify please, he said it yesterday, and Jay Sekulow and I said yesterday, 'I hope we get a chance to tell him the risk that he's taking, ' so he may testify, we may actually work things out with Bob Mueller because working it out directly is good", said Giuliani.

Giuliani, meanwhile, lambasted Daniels for trying to extract money from President Trump. "I mean we now know that that was an absolute lie". But this week, on Fox News, Giuliani said the president in fact did know of the deal and had reimbursed Cohen. "That's not a decision to be made now, there's no reason to pardon anybody now".

It is not the first time Alec Baldwin has impersonated Mr Trump on Saturday Night Live.

Conway also stressed that Trump has denied Daniels' allegations of an affair between the two, and said she accepted his denial. But Stormy Daniels stole the show by appearing as herself and calling for Trump's resignation.

Speaking later to reporters on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews, the president appeared to allude to Giuliani's remarks earlier this week.

"You stated it as fact", Stephanopoulos said.

Any payments to women, Conway added in a characteristically combative and confusing interview, "did not cross my desk as campaign manager".

"I firmly believe there is going to be too much evidence of wrongdoing by him and those around him for him to be able to survive the balance of his term", Avenatti said.

Giuliani also reiterated that he was unwilling to allow Trump to be interviewed by Mueller, despite the president's reported openness to the idea - and refused to rule out Trump asserting his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
