Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, both 23, reached a deal with the city officials for a symbolic $1 settlement along with a pledge that the city will start a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs, reported Associated Press.

Starbucks also reached agreement with Robinson and Nelson this week, the company announced on Wednesday.

Nelson and Robinson's arrest sparked a debate in the United States over racial profiling, while Black Lives Matter took their protest directly to the store where the men were arrested. The grant will establish "a pilot curriculum for public high school students to develop the skills necessary to pursue their dream of being entrepreneurs", according to Dunn.

They were eventually asked to leave, and when they did not, an employee called the police.

The video of the arrests went viral.

The agreement finalized earlier this week also includes "continued listening and dialogue between the parties and specific action and opportunity" and and the opportunity for the two to complete their undergraduate degrees through the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, a partnership with Arizona State University that enables Starbucks workers to earn their bachelor's degrees with full tuition coverage, the company said.

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson apologized for the arrests, calling them "reprehensible".

Robinson and Nelson were waiting for a business partner for a meeting in the restaurant, who came to the store as police led the men away.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross, who is black, at first defended his officers' conduct, but days later issued a televised apology for the way the Starbucks call was handled.

As Johnson said previously, “I want to thank Donte and Rashon for their willingness to reconcile.

"We will provide them with a foundation of learning and provide them with an opportunity to be part of our company either directly or indirectly as a result of this situation", Schultz told co-host Gayle King.

Starbucks has sought to fix damage to its image by apologising and ordering all its stores and corporate offices across the United States to close for an afternoon on May 29 to conduct "racial-bias education". "And Starbucks will continue to take actions that stem from this incident to fix and reaffirm our values and vision for the kind of company we want to be", Johnson said.

The men and their lawyer said the agreement with the city was an effort to make sure something positive came out of the incident.
