On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahram Qassemi condemned the attack, which he called a "violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity" by Israel.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the strike on the base a "very unsafe development".

A human rights group says a missile attack on an air base in Syria has killed 14 people of various nationalities.

Forces from regime allies Russian Federation and Iran, as well as fighters from the Tehran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah militia, are known to have a presence there, said Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

Lavrentiev reportedly held extensive discussions on the situation in Syria with Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme Council on National Security, and other officials.

The attack comes just a day after the United States, the European Union, as well as North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member Turkey, had accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in Douma, Eastern Ghouta.

"A lack of coherent strategy toward Syria is strengthening our adversaries and weakening our allies", Block warned and "the power vacuum would immeasurably strengthen Syria's President Bashar al-Assad and his evil regime propped up by his patrons Iran and Russian Federation". They have been denied proper education, food, healthcare, and have been forced to live in basements for months to shelter from attacks.

Iran is a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad and has sent troops to bolster his forces.

Mr Trump had earlier taken to Twitter to issue a warning to Syrian and its allies.

Ali Akbar Velayati was speaking on arrival in the Syrian capital Damascus, reported al-Mayadeen, which is well-connected in government-held parts of Syria.

Last week, President Vladimir Putin of Russian Federation met with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts to determine the future of Syria, a development Block warned "should send chills down our spine". "Big price to pay", he said.

An Iranian news agency affiliated with the regime in Tehran claimed on Tuesday that seven Iranians were killed in the attack on Syria's T-4 airbase.

The attack comes just days after a sarin nerve gas attack in the city of Douma, east of Damascus that killed dozens of civilians. "His threats to repeat impulsive acts of aggression is symptomatic of U.S. policy helping extremists", the tweet reads.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the victims of chemical weapons, strongly condemns the use of such weapons by any party and anywhere in the world based on its principled policies and religious and moral teachings", Qassemi said in a Sunday statement.
