Thomas Partey believes Atletico Madrid's closer proximity to La Liga's summit means Sunday's clash with city rival Real Madrid is a bigger deal for Los Colchoneros.

Atletico visit Real at the Santiago Bernabeu today, having gone four matches without a defeat in the league at their opponents' backyard.

Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarterfinal final second leg, Zidane rotated heavily, with Luka Modric and Karim Benzema among those rested.

Oblak had to be quick off the mark eight minutes later to block Raphael Varane's effort at point-blank range after he had controlled Kroos' free-kick, but opposite number Keylor Navas proved equally resilient when he got a firm hand to Diego Costa's low drive after he had broken free.

It was Madrid who eventually went 1-0 up thanks to star man Ronaldo who struck in the 53rd minute.

After a period disrupted by niggling fouls and loose touches, Real finished well before the break as Marcelo's curving shot rattled the crossbar and Dani Carvajal's fired follow-up again met Oblak.

Real were nearly paid to rue their missed opportunities when Koke sent Diego Costa through on goal, but the ex-Chelsea star's near-post attempt was tipped wide by Keylor Navas.

Atletico Madrid were behind for less than five minutes before Griezmann levelled.

The opening goal arrived after nine uneventful second-half minutes from a familiar source.

Navas then had to keep out a strike from Koke as the visitors looked to complete the turnaround at the Bernabeu. Bale was given the freedom of the Bernabeu by the Atletico defence on the left wing and he made them pay by sending an inch-perfect cross into Ronaldo to score with a well-taken volley at the back post - his 650th career goal.

Simeone's what-we-have-we-hold move nearly backfired when Bale skewed wide, while Sergio Ramos made his regular pitch to be Madrid's last-ditch hero - forcing Oblak to push a wonderful free-kick behind in stoppage time and powering over from the resulting corner.
