On Friday, the UK's High Court granted a warrant to enforcement officers working for the country's information commissioner to conduct a search at Cambridge Analytica's London headquarters.

Investigators left Cambridge Analytica's London office about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The regulator said it will "consider the evidence before deciding the next steps and coming to any conclusions".

The data watchdog's probe comes amid whistleblower accusations that CA, hired by Donald Trump during his primary campaign, illegally mined tens of millions of users' Facebook data and then used it to target potential voters.

The first order for research by Bolton's political action committee, The John Bolton Super PAC, was made in August 2014, when the company was still in the process of collecting data from the users of the social network, The New York Times reported Friday, citing former company employees and campaign finance records.

USA lawmakers on Friday asked Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg to come to Congress to explain to explain how the data got into Cambridge Analytica's hands, adding to pressure on the firm, which is under fire from investors and advertisers.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also been requested by lawmakers in the U.S. and U.K.to testify before investigative committees regarding Facebook's role in the data breach.

Facebook said the data in question was properly gathered a few years ago by psychology professor Aleksandr Kogan, who said he was using it for academic purposes.

The company has seen its stock market value plunge by around $75 million amid the crisis, as shares closed the week down 13 percent - their worst seven days since July 2012.

Last month, Cambridge Analytica Chief Executive Alexander Nix denied to a parliamentary committee the company worked for Leave.EU, saying only that his firm had met the campaign group to discuss potential business, but did not reach a deal.

In a statement Friday, Cambridge Analytica reiterated its previous claims that it did not use any of the data during its work for Trump.

"[CA] believed that the data had been obtained in line with Facebook's terms of service and data protection laws", writes Taylor.

Cambridge Analytica has said it is willing to cooperate with the ICO in the probe.
