India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I : India defeats Bangladesh by 6 wickets

Tri-series: First 2 wickets did us in, says Dhawan We just lost one game, it's not a big thing: Dhawan

Host Sri Lanka will aim to continue its recent domination against a beleaguered Bangladesh when the two teams meet in the Nidahas Twenty20 Trophy here on Saturday. As for Bangladesh, this was the first game of their campaign.

Liton Das was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with 34 after being dropped twice in the same over from seamer Vijay Shankar early in his innings.

Bangladesh stand-in captain Mahmudullah failed to have an impact as he was sent packing by Shankar for one run. Shardul Thakur (1/25) and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (1/19) were economical in their spells. Having batted first, Bangladesh had given India a very modest target of 140 and Rohit Sharma had all the time in the world to get his form back but he departed for just 17.

Rishabh Pant didn't last long at the crease as he was cleaned up by Rubel Hossain for seven runs.

Manish Pandey (27*) would be left to finish matters off when Dhawan nicked off to Taskin Ahmed with victory in sight.

The pacers bowled alright and Rubel Hossain stood out with two wickets.

"I think it's obvious we didn't score the way we wanted to, but T20 is a type of format where you have to take calculated risks and look for boundaries as well".

However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das steadied the ship for Bangladesh. They executed their plans very well but we should have found ways to make more runs. The dot balls created a lot of pressure.

Due to the absence of Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma was the captain of the team and he started the chase with Dhawan as the openers. He and Tamim Iqbal took the total to 35 before Iqbal fell in the last ball of the fifth over.

"We analysed what went wrong against the Lankans, and we thought hitting the length was the option for us. They came out and did what was asked", Rohit said at the presentation ceremony. "We kept it simple and got the basics right, which was missing in the first game", the Mumbai Indians skipper added.

"The catching is something that can always be improved upon no matter what. This result shows how good we are as a team", Chandimal had said. "We are much better than that", he hoped. "Hopefully we won't make the same mistakes again". I think we have been lacking in that area in the middle overs for the past few matches where we played quite a few dot balls and also threw our wickets away.
