Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was reportedly investigated by police in Portland, Oregon, for an alleged sexual assault that occurred at a bar in 2011.

The claim is that Cuban allegedly thrust his hand down the back of her trousers and "penetrated her vagina". The alleged victim told Willamette Week that she has moved on from the incident, but stands by her story. "It didn't happen", Cuban said in a terse email to the Associated Press. The allegation comes weeks after a Sports Illustrated report detailed a series of sexual offenses within the Mavericks offices.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is under fire for an alleged sexual assault.

Yet a friend of the woman also reportedly told officers that Cuban was "very drunk ... his eyes were half closed, he was unstable on his feet, and he was slurring his words". "I stand behind that report 1,000%". More specifically, the alleged victim said Cuban "pushed his hand down the back of her jeans and inside her underwear where he cupped his hand over her groin area and inserted the tip of his finger into her vagina". The SI story included allegations of serial sexual harassment of female employees by former team president and CEO Terdema Ussery, as well as separate instances of domestic violence by former team beat writer Earl K. Sneed, who remained on staff in what Cuban would later call "a terrible mistake".

Through his lawyer, Stephen Houze, Cuban reiterated his denial.

Police also reviewed seven photographs taken of the woman and one of her friends standing next to Cuban at the time.

Houze, Cuban's attorney, also gave authorities the results of a polygraph examination and the opinion of two medical experts that Rees said provided evidence against the woman's claims.

"The case detective and the complainant both agree with the conclusion there is no corroborative evidence to support the complainant's allegation", wrote senior deputy DA Don Rees on July 27, 2011, via Williamette Weekly. "Oh my God, I don't know what to do".

"Because all leads have been exhausted and there remains a lack of physical or substantial circumstantial evidence", Portland Police Detective Brendan McGuire wrote July 28, 2011, "I recommend the case be suspended".
