The majority (55%) of hospital admissions were due to the influenza B strain. That's down about 500 cases the previous week.

Hospitalizations are up 47 per cent with 2,438 people admitted to hospital with the flu.

The SHA said 87 cases in the P.A. area were influenza A and 71 influenza B, although the B strain is now becoming dominant which is normally the case later in the winter season.

Twenty-seven people died from the flu between February 11 and February 17, bringing the total number of flu deaths in the state to 200, according to data released by health officials on Thursday.
