Russian state news agency Tass reports that the aircraft was carrying a total of 71 people - 65 passengers and six crew - all of whom are understood to have died.

Fire and rescue divisions, ambulance brigades and other emergency services were immediately dispatched to the crash site, authorities said.

A source told the Russian news agency Interfax that those on board "had no chance" of survival.

The Saratov Airlines flight disappeared from radar just minutes after its departure for the city of Orsk, some 1,000 miles to the south-east. "It's not clear at this stage whether weather was factor in this crash".

The governor of the Orenburg region, which the plane was flying to, told Russian media more than 60 people on the plane were from the region. Witnesses said the plane, an Antonov An-148 aircraft, was in flames as it fell from the sky.

Saratov Airlines flight 703, from Moscow's Domodedovo airport to the city of Orsk on the Kazakhstan border, was carrying 65 passengers and six crew members, a Federal Air Transport Agency spokesman said on Rossiya-24 television.

Emergency services said in a statement that more than 150 rescue workers were deployed to the site.

Wreckage from the plane was found in Ramensky area, about 40 kilometres from the airport.

Radio contact with the seven-year-old Russia-made plane was lost at 14:21 Moscow time (1121 GMT), several minutes after the takeoff.

"Judging by everything, no one has survived this crash", said Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov.

A source told Russian media there were "no survivors".

"Initial reports from Russian Federation blamed the crash on weather or human error, however, it was unclear how that measures up with claims that the plane "[fell] apart in the sky".

Among the passengers of the crashed "Saratov Airlines" was one azerbaijani - Gahramanov Namig.

The plane's wreckage lies in Stepanovskoye village, about 40km from where it took off.
