On Wednesday, White House senior aide Rob Porter announced his resignation after both of his ex-wives went public with claims of physical and emotional abuse. "I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served in the Trump Administration and will seek to ensure a smooth transition when I leave the White House". In addition to alleged verbal abuse, Willoughby says Porter physically dragged her out of the shower in 2010 and yelled at her. Willoughby was granted a protective order against Porter after he violated the terms of their separation agreement.

The news site on Wednesday also posted pictures of Holderness with a bruised right eye, which she alleges was the result of Porter punching her during a trip to Florence in the early 2000s.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she had not discussed the allegations against Porter with Trump.

Chief of Staff John Kelly (from l.), White House chief economic adviser Gary Cohn and White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter arrive Thursday at Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

Porter told the Daily Mail that the allegations were "slanderous and simply false".

He says photos published were taken almost 15 years ago and the "reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described".

"I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign", he added. "In response, Kelly put out a statement calling Porter "a man of true integrity and honor" and a 'trusted professional.' But shortly after Kelly rallied behind his colleague, Porter's first wife came forward with additional harrowing allegations".

A former chief of staff to Hatch, Porter joined the White House at the beginning of Trump's administration, though he wasn't well-known to the President like other top West Wing staffers. Porter, she said, even choked her.

It remains unclear when he will officially depart the White House.

Sanders also described Porter as "someone of the highest integrity and exemplary character". When I found the keys and gave them to him he stayed on the porch and would not leave for another 10-15 minutes until I threatened to call the police. "As has always been our policy, we do not comment on security clearances", she said. "He was angry because we weren't having sex when he wanted to have sex and he kicked me", she said.

"Rob Porter has been effective in his role as Staff Secretary", the statement read. Rob Portman of OH and Mike Lee of Utah.

"Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah performed a remarkable about-face on Wednesday after the second major news outlet in a row published allegations of spousal abuse against Rob Porter, Hatch's former chief of staff". "In every interaction I've had with Rob, he has been courteous, professional, and respectful", he said. I am praying for Rob and those involved, ' he said. "I don't know if that was conscious or not". For months, Porter kept a low profile in a White House filled with outsized personalities. And on Tuesday, the Utah Senator denounced the Daily Mail's report of domestic violence allegations against Porter - comments which he walked back Wednesday after more information was reported.
