Patrice Evra set for a Premier League return

Sebastien Haller from German first division Bundesliga football team Eintracht Frankfurt poses for West Ham insist they are backing David Moyes and no decisions will be made on his future until end of season

Having departed Manchester United for Juventus in 2014, Patrice Evra is on the cusp of a return to the Premier League.

Patrice Evra has spoken about his move to West Ham United, and claimed it was one of the fastest deals of his career.

Marseille ripped up Evra's contract after he aimed a kick at the head of one of the French club's fans before a Europa League match against Portuguese club Vitoria on November 2.

Evra was subsequently banned from European competitions by UEFA for the rest of the season but he will be able to play domestically for West Ham.

Evra made 379 appearances for United during an exceptionally successful nine-season spell, during which he won five Premier League titles, the 2008 Champions League, three League Cups, five Community Shields and the Fifa Club World Cup. However, he is available to play in the Premier League.

As is the trend these days, West Ham unveiled their new signing in a video posted on social media, to the tune of club anthem "Forever Blowing Bubbles".

Hammers boss David Moyes, who managed Evra at Manchester United, needed to bolster a squad decimated by injuries to a host of key players.

Vice-chairman Karren Brady has leapt to the defence of the under-fire owners after being questioned about their perceived lack of spending on players. Evra joins an aging defense that also includes Pablo Zabaleta (33) and Jose Fonte (34).

Evra could make his debut against Watford on Saturday, with fellow left-back Arthur Masuaku suspended for a further four matches after being sent-off for spitting against Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

He was not banned from playing for Marseille in domestic games, but they still chose to terminate his contract "by mutual consent".
