PUBG Corp delays anti-cheat update due to "unexpected issue"

Steam Community :: Group Announcements :: PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Over 1 million PUBG cheaters banned in January but it's “escalating”
| 07 February, 2018, 02:07

PUBG Corp announced that the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds update that was supposed to be released on February 5 with new anti-cheat measures has now been delayed following unexpected issues.

Simply put, the new patch will search the game files to detect any third-party programs, such as the popular cheating software ReShade, which pretends to be the DirectX or OpenGL driver. The patch was originally planned to roll out yesterday, but an "unexpected issue" cropped up during testing that necessitated a delay.

PUBG Corp has reported that they will soon be launching a new anti-cheat solution as a way to help curb the number of cheaters in the game.

The massively popular survival shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has more than 30 million players on both PC and Xbox One with PC contributing to a significant chunk of that figure. There are PUBG cheats which allow scumbag players to withstand damage, see where enemies are located at on the map, and numerous other silly exploits. One of those, BattlEye, recently announced that it had banned over a million PUBG cheaters in January alone, showing how bad the cheating situation really is.

Since launch, PUBG has mainly relied on BattlEye and player reports to catch cheaters.

The last-man-standing shooter has experienced a meteoric rise since entering Early Access previous year, and now boasts over 30 million players across PC and Xbox One. The developer also confirmed that this is a permanent block of Reshade, so it's probably best to get rid of it at this point.

Not all of those competitors are playing by the rules, however, and developer Bluehole has been waging a high-profile war against those looking to gain an unfair advantage. "Thank you for your support and understanding", PUBG Corp. said. If you think you're poor, just git gud.
