Drake surprises a Miami student with a $50k scholarship

Drake performed on a crane above the school's baseball field while a drone flew overhead to record the concert. A video posted on Twitter showed students singing along to the song in excitement.

The rapper also presented the school with a $25,000 check and said he would help design new school uniforms, according to a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade school district.

The "Hotline Bling" rapper surprised pupils at Miami Senior High School in Florida when he arrived on campus to shoot the video for his latest hit single "God's Plan".

Although he's from Toronto, Drake, 31, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, has been known to spend time in Miami, and famously rapped "wrist bling, got a condo up in Biscayne" on his 2011 song "The Motto". It was unbelievable and unexpected.


Drake's "God's Plan" is about to be the biggest record in his catalog.

The superstar then made his way to the University of Miami, donating a $50,000 scholarship to a student by the Frost music school as onlookers watched. "I'ma talk to your principal and when my album comes out hopefully I can come back to Miami Senior High School".

Student Destiny Paris detailed her good fortune on Instagram, explaining how Drake surprised her with the generous gift.

Drake popped up at Destiny's school by surprise, after being told that she was going to shoot a video on the importance of scholarships.

Drake ended his visit by performing on campus at the Shalala Student Center's patio stage. As he left, a mob of students chased his motorcade.
